Diary
Ayi, shopping & haircut
July 22, 2005

We have gotten an Ayi. Ayi means aunt in Chinese & that is what a home help here is called. I however call her by her name instead.. She comes twice a week & it is so nice having someone else doing all the boring cleaning work, especially since bending towards the floor is not really something my body appreciate doing anymore. I also think we have never had as clean a house ever before!

Two weeks ago Anders was in Beijing (Peking) at a seminar & last week he was in Guangzhou (Kanton) & had some less nice eating experience. Apparantly the saying is that in Guangzhou they eat everything with four legs, apart from tables & chairs.

Last saturday we went to the fabric market. Anders ordered two pair of pants & I ordered two dresses; copies of the dress I was wearing, but with some more belly room. My dresses, in nice cotton fabric & Anders' pants cost approximately 220 RMB (~220 kr) each including the fabric. We are picking up the pants tomorrow, but there are also 24 hours tailoring if needed.

At today's control the babies hearts were beating steadily & since last control they have started kicking much more & often when I try to go to sleep...

We have uploaded some more photos to the photo album section, so take a look & don't miss "High Five"!

We have also gotten a dog, but just temporarily. We are watching another family's Goldern Retriever while they are on vacation. She is very well behaved and sweet.

Day before yesterday I went to IKEA and bought the changing table DIKTAD since I need to get the babies' room ready before I leave for Sweden in August. I also got shelfs so we can finally get some order in the basement. I opened the Diktad package... and I am so glad I am an engineer! The instruction manual is around 10 pages long!!

Today I went & had my hair cut. Kind of interesting experience. They did not speak English & I do not speak much Chinese, so it was kind of a challenge. First they washed my hair, but I was still sitting in the chair & the shampoo & water was added from bottles. When my head was filled with foam I also got a head massage - very nice! :) Then I moved to the rinse chair where my hair was rinsed, rinsed & rinsed. I moved back to the first chair & was offered massage: back, arms & fingers and then with a tops inside of the ears! After that the hairdresser came & started cutting my hair. I don't think I have ever been cut so thoroughly before! The result was good & pretty much as I wanted & after that he brushed it until he liked the result. Then I was finished (after 2.5 hours) & paid the 100 RMB (~100 SEK) it cost!

Last week we had a drop in temperature here, only 28 degrees & a nice wind, due to the taifun over Taiwan, but now it is back to 35 degrees again.

For those of you who wonder why we don't have a blog instead of a diary it is due to the fact that China blocks blogs.
