Chinese New Year
February 5, 2006

Last Saturday was Chinese New Year. We are now in the year of the dog. Chinese New Year means fireworks and fire crackers and a lot of them!

It started Saturday evening with some celebration. Since we have two babies, with all what that inclues, we were not up celebrating, but went early to bed, just to be waken up at midnight when hell broke loose.

Bomber & Granater!

The fire crackers that only making noice and not light are not forbidden here and what we in Sweden called Kinapuffar (Chinese puffs?) are sold on a ribbon with 1000 for 28 RMB (approximately 28 kr). They also sell boxes with tubes inside with rockets where you ignite once and then have firework for 10 minutes. It is a lot of NOICE, especially when you get the interesting acustic effects when the crackers explode between the neighbourhood houses. It all ended 40 minutes later and we managed to get back to sleep.

You then expect the celebration has ended - but no, it continued during the next evenings as well, although not as extreme as Saturday, but Wednesday evening was apparantly another very special day so that evening it all started again!
